​We serve families experiencing homelessness who consist of at least one adult with custody of a child under the age of 18; they lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. Homeless families are more likely to live in shelter, hotels/motels, cars, or places not meant for human habitation rather than on the street. Their homelessness tends to be the result of economic reasons or generational poverty. The majority of homeless families are made up of single mothers.

We also serve young pregnant or parenting homeless youth (Transition Age Youth [TAY]), between the ages of 18-24. Families headed by TAY are an underserved, and often overlooked, segment of the broader population of families experiencing homelessness.

Through our permanent housing programs, we help homeless families move from shelters into permanent housing as quickly as possible by providing apartment search and financial assistance for security deposits and short-term rent subsidies.  Once families move-in, we follow through with individualized in-home services to address parent, child and family barriers to school stability, economic security and overall well-being.
