Mission and Values
The Institute for Arts in Medicine (I_AM) at Keck Medicine of USC is committed to enhancing the role of the healing arts and wellness throughout our healthcare system.
To expand access to the healing arts for patients, staff, and our wider community, Keck Medicine of USC helped establish I_AM. I_AM draws on the premise that the expressive arts in patient care have the potential to reduce levels of anxiety, depression, and stress, thereby improving clinical outcomes. It includes a network of artists and physicians that deliver an integrative model of patient care, grounded in research, medical staff education, staff engagement, and community outreach.
In order to promote a serene and healing environment for patients, families, and staff, I_AM also oversees various permanent and rotating art exhibits throughout the Keck Medical Center, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and various outpatient clinic spaces.
