Round One Presentations: August 30 and 31st
Symposium and Showcase: September 21st (Tentative)
In late August, all participants will compete in a business plan competition. A panel of business and social investors will provide valuable feedback and coaching to each presenting organization. Up to four finalists will be selected to return in September for the Showcase and Symposium. At the Showcase & Symposium, judges select winning organization, which will be awarded a package of cash and pro bono support to insure that their plan is fulfilled.
The Showcase & Symposium will be a large public event which also features a speaker on emerging trends in social capital markets and addresses national and local activity, including foundations, “patient capital” loans and the emergence of “angel” social investors.
The Social Enterprise Venture Competition is being managed by the Academies for Social Entrepreneurship and the Center for Nonprofit Management with support from Brand U, California Endowment, Executive Service Corp, First 5 LA, Hershey/Cause, LA Social Venture Partners, Nonprofit Finance Fund, Tech Coast Angels and USC Marshall School of Business.
Academies for Social Entrepreneurship creates an eco-system of support that nurtures entrepreneurship and innovation in nonprofit organizations. Our "ASE In-the-News" section shares our on-going work and upcoming events.
